On October 31st, an acceptance team composed of representatives from the Guangzhou Transport Bureau, the Huangpu District Government, the Huangpu District Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, and others conducted a test acceptance of the peripheral sound insulation screen of the fully enclosed sound barrier project on the North Second Ring Expressway of Yuexiu Transportation. After on-site inspection by the acceptance team, it was found that the construction of the peripheral sound barrier screen of the sound barrier project had been completed, reaching the designed engineering volume. They unanimously agreed to pass the acceptance. It has laid a solid foundation for the overall completion and acceptance of the fully enclosed sound barrier project on the North Second Ring Expressway.

The sound barrier project is a key livelihood project for implementing the rectification tasks of the central environmental protection inspection and enjoys high social attention. The project is located in the Poly Roland Community section of Huangpu District. It runs from north to south as a whole, with a designed length of 480 meters. The upper structure is made of steel. As the first fully enclosed sound barrier project newly built on an existing ten-lane expressway in China, it has a maximum span of approximately 89 meters. The upper steel structure has a total of 64 spans. The construction process under the large span is complex. The construction safety risks are high, the tasks are heavy, the difficulty is great, and it is hard to ensure smooth traffic flow. Moreover, there is no industry experience to refer to. Under the joint guidance of the Municipal Transportation Bureau, the Huangpu District Government and other units, the project adheres to the concept of lean management and continuous improvement, effectively strengthens the sense of responsibility of all participating parties, maintains a high-pressure stance on safety production, takes into account the operation and construction of the road sections, rationally allocates resources from all parties, and effectively resolves the "bottleneck" problems in the construction tasks. Under the premise of ensuring safety and quality, Race against time and catch up with the schedule to ensure the project construction progress in the final sprint stage with all efforts.
Precise hoisting construction operations ensure efficiency
The project hoisting involves a total of over 3,000 tons of steel structure materials and more than 30,000 square meters of acrylic screen bodies. It requires up to 18,000 lifting operations, including numerous components such as main beams, tie rods, and horizontal supports, as well as tens of thousands of sets of nuts and bolts. Moreover, it needs to be carried out within a tight time of less than six hours in the early morning, demonstrating an unprecedented complexity. Strict requirements have been put forward for hoisting techniques and construction organization.
Facing the difficult problems, all the participating construction parties formed a research team to conduct in-depth research and discussion, and carefully formulated a road-related hoisting construction plan covering multiple aspects such as the layout of the construction access road, the installation and layout of the steel columns of the median strip, the reservation of mechanical and electrical and drainage equipment, the installation of "one component, one number" marking, the selection of heavy equipment, and the cross-construction plan, making every effort to ensure the high-quality completion of the sound barrier construction.
Throughout the entire construction process, the project made early plans and preparations, adhering to precise and efficient operations. It ensured that the technical skills of the workers were in place, the weights of the lifting equipment were properly balanced, and the cross-construction teams cooperated smoothly. This significantly reduced errors and delays, effectively enhanced construction efficiency, and guaranteed the rapid completion of the construction tasks within the limited time.
Refined traffic organization ensures traffic safety
This section of the expressway has a large volume of traffic and complex traffic conditions. To balance construction safety and smooth traffic flow, the project has continuously optimized the traffic organization plan, further strengthened the visual warning of road occupation and enclosure, effectively isolated the construction area from the driving area, replaced the original corrugated steel guardrails with cast-in-place concrete guardrails with higher anti-collision grades, increased night lighting, and improved the enclosure line shape To enhance traffic smoothness and safety, a model-based sand table was introduced. Before organizing traffic barriers, the placement of traffic safety facilities at the road-occupying construction site was vividly demonstrated to ensure the layout and safety requirements of the construction site, achieving continuous construction flow and meeting the people's needs for a better travel experience to the greatest extent.
At the same time, the project has deeply strengthened the control of the safety process, closely cooperating with multiple parties such as traffic police, road administration, and the monitoring center, increasing the input of safety management personnel and materials, and earnestly, firmly and effectively implementing the safety control during construction. Cameras are comprehensively deployed at the construction site, supplemented by drone patrols, to form a real-time monitoring center throughout the entire process. Through monitoring traffic barriers, personnel control, mechanical equipment, etc., comprehensive and multi-dimensional safety management of the construction process is achieved. Relying on the information management platform for construction projects, the visualization supervision of on-site resource input, progress, quality and safety management data is realized. No work safety responsibility accidents occurred throughout the entire project construction process.
The successful completion of the sound barrier project's sound insulation screen has effectively reduced the disturbance of surrounding traffic noise to the residents of Poly Roland Community, creating a more peaceful and comfortable living environment for them and truly improving the environmental quality of the area.
